1. How many rooms do you have? 1. We have a (2) very comfortable and beautifully decorated studios.
2. How do we get there? 2. From San Juan you can fly or hire a limo and then take the boat or you can take a short flight from Ceiba.
3. What town are you close to? 3. We are 1.5 miles from Isabel Segunda and 4.5 min. from Esperanza, right in between. A perfect location, never a traffic hazle. Vieques is small so everything is close.
4. Do we need to rent a car? 4. I strongly recommend it no matter where you stay, at least for a few days to go to the beautiful beaches all reachable ONLY by car.
5. Are you near beaches? 5. Yes, we are 7 min. from CARACAS, (Red Beach)
6. How many people sleep in the studios? 6. GAVIOTA sleeps 6 and PITIRRE sleeps 4.
7. What are the rates? 7. They are posted on each studio.
8. Do you have an “off reason” rate? 8. No, we have a best rate all year around, if I did, one would be higher.
9. What amenities are included? 9. Oh, full kitchen, tv/vcr, clothe washer, beach chairs, floaters, umbrella, cooler, hibachi, expresso/capuchino machine, Sony stereo, outside BBQ, Jacuzzi (hmm!) Please go to the amenities list for the last version.
10. Do I have to bring bed linen, beach towels…etc. 10. No, we have everything for you, well, if you have a favorite beach towel or your undeniable pillow, well, if you must, bring it.
11. We’ve heard that Esperanza is the place to be? 11. No, no ,no, Esperanza is a place to go. There are only three mini stores and three restaurants. A popular hangout but noisy to sleep. Go, enjoy and get out. Oh, there lives the highest rooster concentration on the entire island. Oh, ask about rooster noise....
12. Can you recommend a car rental place? 12. Sure, Maritza’s, Marco’s and Acevedo (all will deliver to the Nest)
13. What’s the address to the studio? 13. We are on road 997 about kilometer 1.5, less than a mile from the wild liferefuge. I’ll give you specific instructions when you are getting closer to come.
14. Will anyone pick us up at the ferry port or airport? 14. Yes, at the ferry either I or a driver will pick you up. From the airport you will need to take a car that has been on line if I am not available.
15. Is there air condition at the studios? 15. Yes, although not necessary, even in the summer months.
16. Is there an outside to the studios? 16. Oh yes, you have a nice porch with a table, chairs and umbrella.
17. Do the studios have an independent entrance? 17. Totally….
18. Are there ceiling fans? 18. Yes, three and many windows plus A/C on both studios.
19. Is there a supermarket near by? 19. There is Colmado Mambo (well suited convenience store) for things you need and two large supermarkets in town.
20. Is there privacy at the studio? 20. All you want, we can be invisible if that’s the way you prefer it. We are there for you if you need us....though we cherish all the new friendships we've made during these years...we hope you join that list
21. Do you have a Jacuzzi? 21. Yes, our latest addition, so…….enjoy!
22. Why do others advertise as “on the beach” or “close to the beach”? 22. Well, our advertising is not regulated, so the internet can hold anything; creativeness and deceptiveness, even poetry. Truly, there is only "ocean front" but the beaches you want to go to are all within the wild life refuge, no housing nor hotels permitted there. Ask direct and pointed questions when renting.
23. What about “a walk to the beach”? 23. Same thing, Esperanza it's more than a mile to Sun Bay. Walking back is the bad part. Oh, and forget about carrying anything. Plus, the beaches you come to Vieques for ARE NOT in anyone’s back yard, you need a car simple, as that. Don’t get fooled.
24. We want to go snorkeling, can you help us? 24. Yes, we need to plan in advance.
25. We want to ride a boat, go fishing perhaps, can you help us? 25. Yes, we need to plan in advance.
26. We want to buy fresh fish and cook it at home, is this possible? 26. Yes, you can BBQ it or bake it in the kitchen’s oven.

28. Are there nude beaches in Vieques? 28. Officially no, yet there are plenty of deserted beaches. So, !!!it's up to you...if you get caught, you get caught
29. Are there still manifestations against the Navy? 29. No, things are pretty much peaceful these days...

Why should you consider the Nest?
Birdnest has dates available for your visit to Vieques....the Nest is the best value for the money…this is guaranteed...the Nest is spacious and beautifully decorated by my artist wife. The location is excellent with a gorgeous view to the coast line of the main island of Puerto Rico and its mountain range....advertisements can hold a lot of imaginative writing....so please ask profound and precise questions when renting...Vieques is still not set up as a tourist trap. Bars and restaurants keep opening around the island.
The Nest studios are fully equipped with everything you need for a memorable vacation. It even has things you may not even want like TV but it has all the privacy you want and it is very peaceful, beautifully landscaped and surrounded by trees and birds. We have recently added a magnificent and spacious roof top terrace with all the comforts you may need. We still manage to keep the prices frozen. Check it out under the Terrace tab, it's really a fun place to be. In the studio category, I challenge all the other studios for price fairness and amenities. Shop wisely, it's your vacation.
Oh, beaches? we are closer to the gate to old camp Garcia (Fish & Wild Life Refuge) (almost a mile) and from then on you have at least 6 of the most gorgeous beaches...Red (Caracas), Blue(Chiva), Garcia, Plata, Platita, Secret (Pata Prieta)….Green beach is on the west end of the island. Many other beaches are reachable by boat.
Vieques is a small island and everything is close by…remember the Navy occupied 2/3 of the island and this is still not available and fenced in so everything is within reach right now.
Were are we located? We are on road 997 about 1.5 miles from Isabel Segunda, a good walk to town. Isabel Segunda is the main town, gas station, supermarkets, mail, city hall, the bank, local shops, the ferry, plus 7 restaurants are in this part of town. We are 4.5 miles from Esperanza so you are also very close to some of the evening attractions at night. The Nest sit on top of a hill, close to road 997 so we have the best of both worlds being close to town but nicely tucked away in your Nest. Vieques is still underdeveloped, usually very quiet after 11pm. Most folks come to Vieques to experience the quiet, solitude and serenity of everywhere. People are unusually nice maybe because stress is low. Please let know how we can be of help so you can have a better vacation. Want things on your fridge when you arrive? Ileana is a glass and mosaic artist and has her working/teaching studio on premises.You can see some her work on this site under the tab "Glass Art" I am a former banker and business consultant in Puerto Rico and South America, very glad to be retired. Vieques was our choice for its beauty and tranquility. Yes, we have to put up we lots of inconveniences but the rewards are overwhelming and very much worth it. Its a choice. As a spare activity I cook for my guests and folks that require of my services. My menu is on this site under yourpersonalcuisine tab although we can always be creative and work outside the menu. Check it out and let me know if I can cook for you. We have three children with very interesting lives. Our oldest daughter lives in the Amazons of Venezuela and you can visit her site at selvadentro.com. She is the proud mother of our two grand children, go visit her. Natalia speaks; english, french, portuguese and spanish. Tamara is the jet set member of the family and lives in Madrid, Spain working in the tourism industry on behalf of Puerto Rico. She travels through Europe. She speaks italian, english and spanish. Alexis is the youngest and is a lawyer turned realtor turned entrepenuer , in short, a business man working very hard at it. Alex speaks english and spanish.
We hope that you like what I have prepared for you on this site. All is as is. I am constantly adding things to the Nest in order to make your stay more memorable. In all honesty, I do not believe you can find a studio with all the amenities and concierge services from me at these rates. I have been advised by some customers to raise my rates so people can think our place is of value. I refuse to do that. This thinking is what got us in the financial mess we live in today and professional marketers (I am an MBA-Syracuse in Marketing) are greatly responsible for that. So trust me, the studios were built for my family to come but as you read earlier, destiny had something else in mind for them. So, we decided to rent. Have no regrets.
