We spent 4 great nights in February 2010 at the Bird's Nest (La Gaviota). Waldo was a fantastic host, picking us up from the ferry, helping us with any questions we had about things like where to eat or which beaches to visit, and even surprising us with fresh bread one morning. Ileana was also warm and inviting, and her glasswork is beautiful (we took home a very nice souvenir). As for the studio, it was the perfect place to stay. It was convenient to everything but provided a comfortable, secluded getaway from which we could watch the sunset over the main island every night while having drinks in the hot tub. Nita the cat was an added treat. All in all, it was a fantastic getaway and far too short. We fell in love with Vieques and can't wait to come back. When we do, we will definitely stay at the Bird's Nest again. Thank you Waldo and Ileana!

We just spent 10 wonderful days at Birdsnest(in Pitirre).Every night after having a full day on the run,it felt like we were coming home!Drinks on the roof looking at the twinkling lights of Puerto Rico were a perfect ending to the day. Waldo and Ileana (and their cat Nita) were warm, welcomming and so helpful. I love my new jewelry and glassware! It felt like we were residents of the island-I would in the future (and have already) recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all, relax in lush beauty. I know we will be back! I miss the lullaby of frogs and birds at night and in the morning. Thanks for a great home away from home!

Thanks Waldo for the great Paella meal you prepared for us. It was fantastic and you were a super chef! Hope to see you again soon!

Our stay at Bird's Nest was awesome! After a hectic week in San Juan for our wedding, we got to relax on our honeymoon at the Pitirre and it was exactly what we needed. We basically did nothing but hang around the place for the first 3 days only because we were so hooked on doing nothing! It was great to hang out with the wild horses, lizards, Diego (dog that came by once in a while), Nita (Waldo's cat), Blackie (neighbors dog), and of course Waldo & Illeana. They were both great hosts that helped us out tremendously. It was also great to get local food and cook at our place. Waldo provided us with lobsters and that turned out to be one of the best dinners we had on our trip...
