Our stay at Bird's Nest was awesome! After a hectic week in San Juan for our wedding, we got to relax on our honeymoon at the Pitirre and it was exactly what we needed. We basically did nothing but hang around the place for the first 3 days only because we were so hooked on doing nothing! It was great to hang out with the wild horses, lizards, Diego (dog that came by once in a while), Nita (Waldo's cat), Blackie (neighbors dog), and of course Waldo & Illeana. They were both great hosts that helped us out tremendously. It was also great to get local food and cook at our place. Waldo provided us with lobsters and that turned out to be one of the best dinners we had on our trip...

Our stay at the Birdnest was simply AMAZING in every way! Such a peaceful and relaxing location! Waldo was the most gracious, knowledgeable and hilarious host we could have asked for!!! He raised the bar for all our future vacations. He even picked and cut open some fresh coconut for us to taste...which looked like a lot of work! We tried all of the hot spots he recommended and were never once disappointed! We have told all our friends and family and plan to go back with another couple next time. On our way home there was some unexpected problems and we would've missed our flight if it weren't for Waldo's quick and helpful thinking. The Beaches were indescribable...the food was delicious...Bio-bay was incredible...and the studio was perfection!!! :) Thanks again, Waldo, for helping us experience Vieques to the fullest!!! oh, and check out Lleanna's glass art studio...she does beautiful work and we brought quite a few home with us for gifts!

Let me start off by saying that I will be back to the Bird's Nest. It is rare that you walk into a place and feel so at home instantly, as if you've known Waldo and family for years. The mood is exactly what people look for in a Caribbean -relaxed, personable, charming, and private. As the program director and tourism manager for a Sustainable Farm destination on St. Croix, I truly appreciate the attention to detail when it comes to making the place livable. It was decked out with ammenities, literally saving us hundreds on meals and other services that we would have otherwise had to purchased elsewhere. It was super-clean but not sterile like a hospital -a perfect balance of homey and approachable - instant and lasting comfort, and for a price that made me literally try to pay more -but he refused to take it. The identify and the unique story of the place make it something to treasure and cherish that can never be replaced! Waldo and his wife know what they are doing, they have a sense for what visitors are there for... with a terrific sense of humor.... if you stay here, ask Waldo why his grapefruits are so sweet and productive.... I've told the story over and over again! hilarious! From the initial booking Waldo was extremely helpful and after a few emails I knew this was the place. My girlfriend is dying to go back.... maybe the bird nest will see us again soon. I better not say too much... I want there to be openings in the future! One really helpful aspect was that nearly everyone on the island knew the bird's nest and Waldo. There were a few times where we dropped his name and people were instantly more helpful and it was clear that he has as good of a reputation with his neighbors as his guests. If you want further referral or info, email me at nate@visfi.org and I'd be glad to offer more info on the place. Book it!

As vacations go, I don't think I've ever been more pleasantly surprised than I was when my girlfriend and I arrived at Bidnestudios. Coming straight from a few days at a fairly run-down and poorly kept hotel in San Juan, Pitirre was a giant breath of fresh air. Your immaculate, cheerfully colored studio, your warm hospitality and your friendly advice really brightened up out week and I think we'll always remember fondly your beautiful island and your beautiful studio. And I will continue to highly recommended it any Caribbean vacationers. Thanks for having us.
